“For the sixth consecutive time, we’ve done a wonderful job at the Botanical Garden. We managed to make another 20 birdhouses with the help of sixth graders from Simon Bolivar School, who happened to pass by the garden and eagerly joined us,” shares Veneta Krumova, a volunteer and organizer of the initiative, with GustoNews.bg.
“In addition to helping us assemble the birdhouses, they actively assisted the other volunteers with trash collection. We want to give a big ‘Bravo’ to these young people who chose responsibility over play. We were also pleasantly surprised when one of the volunteers played the bagpipes. The clean-up ended with this performance—a true reward for all the hard work,” Krumova said.
She and the other volunteers were surprised to learn that the Botanical Garden has been chosen as the venue for this Sunday, April 22nd (Earth Day), for the major annual initiative “Think Green.”
The event is organized by the Bulgarian Association of Dental Medicine Students (BASDM) with the support of the I Love Plovdiv Association and PlovdivTown – City of Plovdiv. Every year, enthusiasts and nature lovers come together to clean up a location in Plovdiv and transform it into a cleaner, greener, and more welcoming place for the city’s residents and visitors.
“We are so happy and grateful that this year’s ‘Think Green’ will take place at the Botanical Garden. This additional support will help us clean an even larger part of the garden and speed up the process of building its fence. Let’s give Plovdiv a remarkable natural park together. Save the date, April 22,” urges Veneta Krumova.
